The description of areas begins at I-25 and moves east towards the mountain.

The residential areas of Placitas radiate off Highway 165 to the north and south. The greater amount of development is on the north side of Hwy 165, as the Cibola National Forest is close by on the south side. Hwy 165 turns to a gravel road at the nine mile marker and enters Cibola National Forest, climbing almost to the top of the Sandia Mountains. Ask for information on the history of the area, plat maps and price lists where available. Not all lots are well marked with signs and corner markers so one may need help.
