Placitas NM - The kind of place most people only dream about.

Placitas West Land

Conveniently located between the culture of Santa Fe (35 miles) and the commerce of Albuquerque (15 miles), Placitas is one of New Mexico's oldest communities. Formed by the Las Huertas land grant of 1745, descendants of the original families still live here, giving the community enviable historical continuity.

Gentle land, inspiring views. There is an overwhelming sense of place about Placitas. Sandia Mountain broods nearby, its uppermost meadows the first signal of season's change. There is the Jemez range to the north, the Rio Grande, distant mesas, juniper and pinon-covered hillsides and - always - the sky. Placitas reflects this environmental bounty.

With the future in mind. Custom homes of indigenous architecture dot many ridgetops in Placitas. Yet, thanks to large minimum lot sizes, unpleasant density will never be a factor. Furthermore, just a tiny portion of Placitas is zoned for business, and the commerce one encounters here - an art gallery, a small family grocery, post office, a cedar fragrance maker - hardly seem "commercial" in the usual sense.

Developing Placitas land is a sacred trust. Building sites are presently available from about $35,000 to $160,000. New custom homes ranging in value from $150,000 to $500,000 and more are carefully designed to complement the land. Strict covenants keep Placitas cohesive and whole.
